A valid passport holding the bearer's details that can be proved to belong to the bearer, that provides absolute certainty of identity.
Isn’t it possible to forge passports?
Yes, it is possible to forge and indeed steal passports. However, it is not possible to alter the hidden RFID chip without detection. Tamper-free chips only, confirm passport validity.
Can a valid passport fail the test?
Yes. For example if a batch of chips have been revoked by the issuing State, all passports from that batch will be flagged as 'chip revoked'. A revoked passport may be proved valid by other means or may be confirmed as a forgery.
Passport Ownership: How reliable is facial matching technology?
Today the proof of liveness and the facial match score is very reliable. The technology iChip uses negates facial spoofing.
